Sumo Dohyo Ring-Entering Ceremony Pouch

Japanese wrestling-themed accessories storage

One of the appeals of sumo, Japan's national sport, is that it's filled with ritual and ceremony. What the wrestlers wear, how they do their hair, their mannerisms before every bout, the ring itself. Everything is ritualistic and related to the native religion Shinto and the days of the samurai. One of the most spectacular of these rituals is the dohyo-iri, when the top level wrestlers go on the ring before their bouts, stand around it, and do some movements while wearing their spectacular kensho-mawashi aprons. Which is exactly what the Sumo Dohyo Ring-Entering Ceremony Pouch shows!

Featuring all the detail you would expect from an item produced by the Nihon Sumo Kyokai Japan sumo association, the Sumo Dohyo Ring-Entering Ceremony Pouch is a 15 x 7.5 cm (5.9 x 3") synthetic leather round container painted to look like a sumo dohyo ring with cutouts of 10 wrestlers standing around it, ready to do the ritual. The dohyo and wrestlers form the lid of the pouch that opens with a zipper, allowing you to store jewelry, stationery, a makeup kit, or anything else you want!
