Sahari Wind Chimes

High-quality traditional Japanese furin

Together with cicadas, wind chimes are part of the soundtrack to the Japanese summer. According to folk beliefs, their high-pitched sound helps fight the summer heat. Surprisingly enough they do, probably because their ring means there's also some breeze at work. If you want to bring a touch of Japan to your summer nights, a wind chime is a must, and among the best you can find are these Sahari Wind Chimes.

Sahari Wind Chimes

What makes these chimes special is that they are created by a special alloy of copper, tin, zinc, lead and silver ("sahari" is the name of the alloy). They are made by one of Japan's top metal craftsmen, Kosai Sano, from Toyama Prefecture's Takaoka. Sahari has been used for over 1,000 years for making gongs and temple bells because it creates a deep sound when struck, so these two Sahari Wind Chimes (you can choose either dragonfly or firefly motifs, both characteristic Japanese summer icons) will be literally music to your ears!
