Lin Flower Vase

Single-flower bamboo vase

Teori from Okayama Prefecture, makers of fine bamboo creations, is no stranger to Japan Trend Shop. We have already featured several of their products over time and we'll continue to do so since they combine several elements we consider essentially Japanese: master-level craftsmanship, functionality and products created by some of Japan's most promising new designers from a material as organic as it gets. Take, for example, the superb Lin Flower Vase, which is one of the best illustrations of all the above!

Lin Flower Vase

Taking an idea born in the mind of 36-year-old Yosuke Shimizu from Osaka, the craftsmen of Teori have expertly laminated strips of bamboo to produce a block split in two from which a single flower emerges, as if escaping from the block's innards. The surface and texture (complimented with the natural oil finish) of the bamboo not only does not upstage even the most common flower but rather showcases it in a subtle yet poignant way. This is a contemporary take on the aesthetic ideals of ikebana (classic flower arranging), applied to vases that will look at home in any modern house.
