Aderia Retro Mizutama Blooming Flower Glasses

1970s-style vintage glassware set

The moment you open the special box containing the four items that make up the Aderia Retro Mizutama Blooming Flower Glasses, it'll feel like you have gone back to the 1960s and the 1970s, when even mainstream design was taking elements from Flower Power and hippy culture. And you'll be right, because the manufacturer, Aderia/Ishizuka from Gifu Prefecture, introduced this set in 1971.

But the Aderia Retro Mizutama Blooming Flower Glasses is an updated version that also takes something from our era: the floral design on the two 235 ml (7.9 fl oz) water glasses, 305 ml (10.3 fl oz) tumbler, and 360 ml (12.2 fl oz) bonbon jar in the set is a redesign, created by 45-year-old illustrator Kazumi Tanabe, who has written (and illustrated) over two dozen books and is also something of an Instagram and Twitter star under the name Mizutama. A beautiful and practical set of glassware that brings together 50 years of Japanese design history!
