Plarail Shinkansen Transforming Robot Shinkalion CW E5 Hayabusa Trailer Form

Train-to-robot transformation toy

It is surprising that it took so long to happen: Shinkansen (bullet trains) have been around for 60 years and transformer robots for another 40, so a Shinkansen that transforms into a robot was a logical next step. Still, it didn't happen until 2015 and it was the brainchild of the creative minds at Takara Tomy, the manufacturers of Japan's oldest, biggest, and best-loved model train franchise, Plarail. The series was named Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, turned into an anime (of course!), and new models added regularly, with the Plarail Shinkansen Transforming Robot Shinkalion CW E5 Hayabusa Trailer Form being the latest!

Based on the E5 Series Shinkansen running the Hayabusa service from Tokyo to Aomori with its characteristic long nose and green, white, and pink color scheme, the Plarail Shinkansen Transforming Robot Shinkalion CW E5 Hayabusa Trailer Form is, in fact, two vehicles, the Shinkansen train and a trailer that carries it, and whose pieces can be taken out and recombined into the awesome robot that the protagonist of the anime that 11-year-old Hayato Hayasugi drives. Great as a toy or a collectible, this is a must-have for all Plarail or Shinkansen fans!
