Plarail Real Class Limited Series Express 185 Shinkansen Relay
Realistic model of Tokyo-Saitama train
Nowadays, if you're in Tokyo and want to travel to Aomori in the northern part of Honshu, you can take the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train directly from Ueno, one of Tokyo's central stations. Back in the 1980s, though, the Tohoku Shinkansen didn't reach Tokyo and you had to take a special "relay" train from Ueno to a town called Omiya in Saitama Prefecture, just north of Tokyo. That train, the 185 Series Shinkansen Relay, was around for just three years and this is the reason it has become a firm favorite among Japan's millions of train enthusiasts – and the reason it has been immortalized in the Plarail Real Class Limited Series Express 185 Shinkansen Relay!
An addition to Takara Tomy's Plarail Real Class series of very detailed replicas of actual trains, the Plarail Real Class Limited Series Express 185 Shinkansen Relay is a four-car edition of the rare 185 Series Shinkansen Relay and comes with three straight train tracks that you can use for either display or for connecting it to your existing Plarail train sets. Other than the cars, you also get high and low cooling units for them, pantographs to connect them to electric lines, and a set of head mark stickers for the front of the power car that you can use to make your train different every time it runs!
