There are countless designs of office lamps, from the classic to the weird, from the ergonomic to the decorative, so what could the new Panasonic SQ-LD440 Desktop Lamp bring to, well, the table? The two-joint arm design is simple and rather commonplace, so it must be something else and indeed it is: the focus here is on the light itself and allowing you to adjust the brightness to what you are doing – be it, reading a book, going over papers, or working on your laptop. And with a few extras thrown in!

The Panasonic SQ-LD440 Desktop Lamp allows you to change between two types of light, a 6,200 K daylight color and a 5,000 K neutral white color, so the colors on your documents or screen will look brighter and have more contrast. You can adjust the brightness in six different steps (from 20% to 100%) and it also features two automatic settings, one that brings the brightness to 20% and then turns itself off 30 seconds later, and another setting that does the same 50 minutes after you press the corresponding button. It is available in two colors (black and white) and it is 38.1 x 42.6 cm (15 x 16.8”) big so it can fit even on small desks.
