Made from the wood of the yamazakura tree (literally, mountain cherry tree), the Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Mountain Cherry Butter Dish has been shaped in a way that fits perfectly with its lid and keeps your butter from melting, even when you have it on the table. As a matter of fact, it also keeps the butter insulated so it won't dry when in the refrigerator! The only thing that stands out is the small opening for the butter knife (not included), but that too is so harmoniously integrated into the overall shape that it actually adds to it.
