Laputa: Castle in the Sky Muska 3-Minute Timer

Studio Ghibli anime egg timer

In a climactic scene from the classic 1986 Hayao Miyazaki anime Laputa: Castle in the Sky, special agent Colonel Muska, the film's villain who wants to get his hands on Laputa's technology, tells Pazu and Sheeta that he will wait three minutes for them to talk and decide if they will give him the crystal that keeps the entire castle in the air. Although Muska doesn't actually wait for three minutes, his "I will wait three minutes" phrase has become something of a slogan among Miyazaki fans, and this is why it serves as the inspiration for the Laputa: Castle in the Sky Muska's 3-Minute Timer!

The Laputa: Castle in the Sky Muska 3-Minute Timer is a 100 x 121 x 76 mm (3.9 x 4.8 x 3") diorama featuring a figure of Colonel Muska standing in front of a panel with Laputa symbols, next to three cube-shaped levitation stones. When you touch the panel, the engravings on the three stones start lighting up in an eerie blue light. When three minutes pass, the timer goes off, playing one of two tunes from the film soundtrack: Robot Soldier (Resurrection and Rescue) or The Destruction of Laputa. Useful as a timer, this is even better as a unique Studio Ghibli collectible!
