Elekit Art Robot Picaro Kit

DIY spirograph drawing robot toy

Back in the pre-smartphone, pre-computer, and pre-game console days, spirographs were one of the coolest toys you could get: using two plastic rings with gear teeth on both the inside and outside of their circumferences, a set of gearwheels with holes for a ballpoint pen, and a few color pens, you could draw amazing geometric shapes. But because we now live in an era of high technology, you can have a robot instead of a manual spirograph – and actually build such a robot yourself, using the Elekit Art Robot Picaro Kit!

The mechanism in the Elekit Art Robot Picaro Kit is really easy and can be put together using just an M2 Philips screwdriver. For the robot's body, you will also need a soda can (any 65 mm/2.6" diameter aluminum can will do) but the mechanism actually works fine even without one (it just won't be so much fun). After you build it and power it up with two AA batteries, put one of the four pens included (red, blue, yellow or black) in the robot's hands, and a piece of paper on the base in front, and it will create some of the most amazing spirograph images you have seen!
