3D Garlic Dissection Puzzle

Vegetable educational toy

It wasn't part of Japan's native cuisine but thanks to the constant give and take with China for over 1,500 years (and with Italy after Japan opened to the West in the mid-1800s), Japan has become well acquainted with garlic and if you do the rounds of the curry shops in Tokyo's Kanda district, you find many that have it as their main ingredient – not to mention the teppanyaki steak houses where the famous wagyu beef is often served right off the hot plate with thin slices of the spicy vegetable. If the above have got your taste buds craving, the 3D Garlic Dissection Puzzle is the cure!

Actually, the 3D Garlic Dissection Puzzle was made as an educational toy so children can understand what a garlic really is. It's made of 8 parts – two for the skin and six for the cloves – and each clove has a different mark, so if you want to cheat you can just match the marks. Of course, it's more fun to match the pieces using the bottom part of the skin and then fit the top over them. A simple but educational toy for children – and a Japanese novelty item!
