It was one more of the elements George Lucas got from Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, the film that was the main influence for the original Star Wars, and the character ended up being one of the most popular: even if you're not a hardcore Star Wars fan, you surely know R2-D2. As a licensed Disney and Lucasfilm item, the Star Wars R2-D2 Nightlight is a fully detailed model of the robot that helped save Princes Leia from the hands of Darth Vader. Like the droid in the franchise, the light is pretty small (it's approximately 11 x 7 x 4.7 cm / 4.3 x 2.8 x 1.8"). But insert three AAA batteries and R2-D2 lights up (there are three levels of light intensity), so you can use it for regular lighting, reading, or just to keep on during the night to add a touch of Star Wars magic to your room.
