Odate Kutsuwa Magewappa Bento Box

Bento boxes are the boxes Japanese people use to pack their lunch in and take to work. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Like all good lunchboxes, the Odate Kutsuwa Magewappa Bento Box is two-tiered: one box is for the rice and the other for the okazu, the side dish that accompanies the main rice. The two boxes are handmade from Akita sugi (cedar) and cherry tree wood bent into a perfect shape using steam – and patience! With a combined capacity of 885 ml (380 ml, or 12.8 fl oz, for the top and 505 ml, 17.1 fl oz, for the bottom), they can hold a full meal and, since the boxes are urethane-covered, your meal can be as oily as you want: the wood won't get stained and you can wash them using regular dishwashing liquid!
