Flowerman Mini Vase (Gift Set)

Single-flower bases in characteristic Japanese poses

We all hate stereotypes but we often forget that the reason they became stereotypes is that they often accurately describe some aspect of reality. Take the Flowerman Mini Vase (Gift Set), for example: these three mini figurines depict a human body sitting either cross-legged ("anza" in Japanese), on its heels (seiza), or on its heels and ready to bow (zarei), and these are all postures that everyone in Japan learns even before going to kindergarten!

What makes the three figures so cute and fun is that they are actually small vases, which is why they don't have a head: you provide the head by inserting a single flower in each of them, hence the Flowerman part of the name. They are made of white porcelain and are hollow, so you can fill them with water. They are easy to clean and add a discreet Japanese hint to any space. Because there are things that are indeed "very Japanese"!
