Daianji Temple Pagoda Umbrella

Famous Nara temple folding umbrella

You wouldn't know it if you visited it today but Nara's Daianji Temple used to be one of the seven great temples of Nara back in the eighth century, when the city was Japan's capital before Kyoto. Among its iconic features are the two seven-story pagodas on its southern side. While they've been destroyed several centuries (and earthquakes) ago, the pattern on the underside of their roofs is quite familiar to the Japanese. Familiar enough to inspire the design of the Daianji Temple Pagoda Umbrella!

Folding down to 27.5 cm (10.8") so it can fit into almost any bag, the Daianji Temple Pagoda Umbrella features eight 53 cm (20.8") ribs and its 100% polyester canopy has two colors: black on the outside and with a lively and beautifully colored reproduction of the red underside of the roofs of Daianji's pagodas, so every time you look up, it will be like you're sitting under them! You can use the umbrella as a parasol too, since it cuts down 95% of the sun's light and over 90% of its UV radiation!
