Wawa Rattan Mirror

Wall-mounted designer mirror

Associated with the sun goddess, the round mirror is a very important symbol in Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan. Combine that with award-winning Torafu Architects' design sensibility and the use of rattan, a material with a history of over 1,000 years in Japan, and you end up with the Wawa Rattan Mirror, another of those objects that stagger with their simplicity and elegance.

Wawa Rattan Mirror

Made of a single piece of rattan by Yamagata Prefecture artisans Tsuruya Shouten, who have been working this material since 1907, the mirror is minimal enough to fit perfectly in almost any space. And thanks to the 8-directional hanger on its back, you can mount it at 8 different angles, with its end (available in four design finishes) suspended in the air and creating new relationships with the environment. The name says it all: "wawa" means "two rings" (i.e. the coils of the rattan) but also "Japanese style" and "harmony".
