Super Mario Pop-Up Pirate

Nintendo character Blackbeard in Danger toy

The Pop-Up Pirate (or Blackbeard in Danger, as it is known in Japan) toy was created in 1975, 10 whole years before the original Super Mario Bros. game was made by Nintendo. But there's a lot that's similar between the two: they've managed to stay relevant decades later by having evolved countless times, incorporating various trends and fads. So perhaps it was inevitable that at some point they would get together and create the Super Mario Pop-Up Pirate!

What you get in the Super Mario Pop-Up Pirate is a full-bodied Mario in all his red and blue mustached glory, standing in a green Warp Pipe and waiting for you to stick the 24 multicolored stick-daggers in the pipe's slots. If you hit the right spot, Mario will jump from his tube like he does when transferring between levels of the game. Use the stickers that come with the game to make each stick-dagger different. Then put Mario in the pipe, give him a twist to wind the spring, and you are ready to go!
