It doesn't look like a traditional Japanese design – because it isn't: the Nousaku Snowflakes Tin Tray was designed by Ching-Ke Lin, a Taiwanese artist and designer who is the head of Taipei's Gridesign Studio. But at the same time, this is a deeply Japanese product because the craftsmanship that has been used to make Lin's design real comes from Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, which has been a center for metalwork since the Edo Period (1600-1868). The tray is the result of a collaboration between the Toyama Prefectural Design Center and the Taiwan Design Center!

Regardless of the nationality of its creators, the Nousaku Snowflakes Tin Tray is a beautiful object – or rather, two, since you can get it in either small, measuring 9 x 144 mm (0.4 x 5.6"), or large, at 12 x 238 mm (0.5 x 9.3"). The square patterns that make it up are so masterfully crafted that you might think you're looking at an optical illusion. This is as true for food as it is for anything else you can use it for. Add a special note to your space with this beautiful and useful item that is both traditional and modern!
