Zen Buddhist monks are well known for their zazen meditation but if you ever visit a Zen temple, you'll see that all activities in their daily life are done with the same mindfulness. Their meals are no exception. The Gato Mikio Oryoki Bowls Set allows you to recreate the atmosphere of a Zen temple's dining room in your home with these high-quality oryoki bowls like those used by real Zen monks – but with a twist to make it easier for non-monks!

Instead of the three standard nested bowls, the Gato Mikio Oryoki Bowls Set contains six: actually, five bowls and a small saucer that you can use for condiments or even for drinks. They are all made of urethane-covered keyaki (Japanese zelkova) wood by a company from Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture, specializing in this particular type of traditional woodworking, including wood-turning, since 1908. A perfect example of how Zen Buddhism has influenced Japanese aesthetics that adds a new dimension to your meals!
