Elekit MR-9116 Gyro Mash Kit

DIY science building toy

Educational toys are a huge thing in Japan and what better way to educate children than to appealing to their love of anything robotic and mechanical? The Elekit MR-9116 Gyro Mash Kit is one such combination, allowing children young and old to build not one but six different moving robotic/mechanical figures. Even better, all six of them move due to the gyroscopic effect: the ability of a rotating body to maintain a steady direction of its axis of rotation. Does that sound too science-y? It should – that's the whole point!

The six devices you can build with this kit are the Robo, Spinner, Rider, Coaster, Balancer, and Rover, and can all perform different types of movement illustrating the gyroscopic effect. All the pieces you need to build them are included and you just have to provide some basic tools like a Philips screwdriver, pair of nippers, hammer, and some tape. And when you're done, pull the charging belt and let the gyroscope inside the machine (and physics!) do the rest!
