Suwada Mirror Nail Nippers

Award-winning nail grooming tool with leather case

No it isn't just the katana samurai swords and hocho chef knives: when it comes to cutlery of any shape or form, you can be sure that the Japanese not only make it but they do so in the best possible way. Take the Suwada Mirror Nail Nippers for example: a pair of nail nippers is something you rarely fuss about. You just go to the drugstore, buy one, and don't think twice about it, right? Not if you are a company like Suwada with a century-old tradition of making cutlery! There's a reason that this mundane everyday item won the 2007 Good Design Award!

Designed by Suwada Blacksmith Works's Tomoyuki Kobayashi, the Suwada Mirror Nail Nippers is individually polished until it gets the mirror-like finish that gives it its name. The polishers use a wide range of abrasives and sandpapers to bring about the exact finish and all work is done by hand (yes, like a katana sword!). Add a specially designed concave blade that fits the curve of your nails, clearly visible tips, and a specially designed cylinder spring that helps the tip opens wide, and you have a truly beautiful item. It comes in a black or white leather case.
