3D King Salmon Dissection Puzzle

Realistic Japanese fish game

Little-known fact: you wouldn't know, given how popular it is now as a topping for sushi, but salmon was barely eaten in Japan before the 1980s and certainly not as sushi! Thanks to Norway’s aggressive export program, the fish became a staple and nowadays, you can even get a toy like 3D King Salmon Dissection Puzzle that teaches you how to dissect a king salmon (Chinook salmon), the most delicious type of salmon there is, and even make a couple of nigiri sushi pieces from it!

The 3D King Salmon Dissection Puzzle is made of 35 parts that, when brought together, create a 135 x 40 x 65 mm (5.3 x 1.6 x 2.6") salmon that even comes with a display stand. Each piece fits together with the others the way they would inside the body of the fish, so putting it together teaches you about the creature's actual anatomy – and some Japanese too, since each piece has its name in Japanese printed on it. Included is also a miniature kitchen knife and two sushi-shaped portions of rice, so you can top them with pieces of salmon or salmon roe!
