Shigaraki Ceramic Humidifier

Stylish organic climate control

The Shigaraki Ceramic Humidifier by Ladonna is one of these products that manages to combine everything that Japan does best: a modern idea (a humidifier), a centuries' old technique (the kilns of Shigaraki in western Japan that have been used for almost 1000 years), a simple and functional design that any 21st-century designer would gladly endorse, and the use of nature as a resource (the device doesn't need any external power to work).

Shigaraki Ceramic Humidifier

The only thing the Shigaraki Ceramic Humidifier needs is some water, which you can pour into its base plate. After that, the porous ceramic material will absorb the liquid and function like a plant to release it into the atmosphere. Depending on the size (there are three available), the humidity released will be 12-20 grams (0.4-0.7 oz) over 8 hours. Add a "wafu" (classic Japanese style) touch to your home or work space, and balance out the effects of air-conditioning or a dry climate with this extraordinary pottery item.
