The Wadokei is the traditional mechanical Japanese clock and now you can recreate this historical wonder with this Otona no Kagaku model kit from Gakken. Typically in a lantern clock design, the Wadokei were based on the clocks introduced into Japan by Europeans in the sixteenth century. However, they were adapted to the unique Japanese time system, with its varying daylight hours and Japanese zodiac.
This kit is based on the Nichou Tenpu, with both a day and night time weights built into the mechanism. Once constructed, the attractive model will teach you about remarkable aspects of engineering, history and culture.
